Blaze said, "UE5 tech demo was gameplay, running on PS5 at 30FPS with a resolution of 1440p at best with no ray tracing and you and you're pony friends are impress by this. LMAO!!!"
TRXPLEX responded, "What so funny. Epic used they own lightning tech for this showcase. And it is impressive. XSX would run maybe at slightly higher resolution and that's it. XSX isn't that much stronger than PS5."
I had to bump this post. I mean, it's not that hard to figure out that UE5 has its' own lighting solution primarily because it still needs to support GPU's that can't handle ray tracing. That lighting technique obviously consumes GPU power but it does look really great. Honestly though, I imagine that a hybrid lighting solution that changed from ray tracing to the UE5 method (as an LOD transition) could improve the look of games beyond ray tracing alone, but that's another topic alotgether (feel free to discuss your thoughts about it in this post though).
At any rate, Series X has 12TF of GPU power (and yes, that's theoretically only 2tf difference) with an additional 13TF worth of compute dedicated to a much more advanced lighting technology than global illumination. Unlike the UE5 solution, Series X and ray tracing don't consume any GPU resources either, so the full 12TF can handle everything else but the lighting.
In short, TRXPLEX, you're comparing 10TF to 25TF, not 12TF. It's going to be just like comparing the 1X to the Pro all over again, if not worse.
